Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty candidly revealed on Neha Dhupia's 'No Filter Neha' podcast that she considered naming her brand 'Chudail Ka Badla' (The Witch's Revenge) after the immense trauma and public scrutiny following Sushant Singh Rajput's death in 2020.
Mumbai: Actress and entrepreneur Rhea Chakraborty has shared a candid revelation about the origins of her clothing brand, Chapter 2 Drip, disclosing that she strongly considered naming it 'Chudail Ka Badla' (The Witch's Revenge) during the arduous phase that followed actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death in 2020. The disclosure came during a recent appearance with her brother, Showik Chakraborty, on Neha Dhupia's podcast 'No Filter Neha'. Chakraborty, 33, alongside Showik, discussed how the tumultuous events of 2020—which included intense media scrutiny and legal battles after Rajput's demise—led them to a point where work opportunities dried up, prompting them to embark on an entrepreneurial journey.
Rhea Chakraborty Reveals Her Original Name for Chapter 2
During the 'No Filter Neha' episode, Rhea elaborated on the powerful emotions that fueled her initial brand-naming ideas. "I was very keen on naming the brand Chudail Ka Badla (The Witch's Revenge). I was completely sure about it and even imagined creating cool T-shirts and merchandise," she stated. She recalled how others cautioned against such a 'negative' name, but she perceived it as 'funny' and a reflection of their feelings at the time.
Before settling on 'Chapter 2', another name she seriously contemplated was 'Black Sheep', going as far as getting bracelets made with the name inscribed. "We felt like the black sheep of society," she shared, encapsulating the sense of isolation and public ostracisation they experienced.
The siblings explained that Chapter 2 Drip, their unisex streetwear label, and the associated Chapter 2 podcast were born out of a desire for a fresh start and to empower others after losing work. Showik also revealed his struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) stemming from the events.
The Aftermath of Sushant Singh Rajput's Death
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai home on June 14, 2020. The tragedy led to a prolonged and high-profile investigation, with Rhea Chakraborty facing allegations and being arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in September 2020. She was granted bail by the Bombay High Court after spending 28 days in custody. In March 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a closure report in the case, ruling out foul play and clearing both Rhea and Showik of the allegations.
Reflecting on the enduring impact of the period, Rhea noted, "It's not something that you can truly get over. It's trauma. It stays in your body, if not in your mind."
