Veteran actor, Dr Shreeram Lagoo breathed his last on December 17, 2019 in Pune. He was 92 years old. Reportedly, due to prolonged illness, Dr Shreeram was admitted at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital from quite some time and was treated there. Known to be a stellar performer who has contributed to Marathi and Hindi cinema, Lagoo's death led to many expressing grief over the same on social media. The latest to pour his heart out is none other than the PM of India, Narendra Modi who took to his Twitter account and offered condolences. Veteran Actor Shriram Lagoo Passes Away At the Age of 92.

In his tweet, Modi shared how he was anguished by Lagoo's demise and also talked about the late star's versatility and brilliance. "Dr. Shreeram Lagoo personified versatility and brilliance. Through the years, he enthralled audiences with outstanding performances. His work will be remembered for years to come. Anguished by his demise. Condolences to his admirers. Om Shanti." Worked in more than 100 Hindi and Marathi films, the actor was also a ENT surgeon. Not just this, the late star has also worked in more than 40 Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati plays. He was born in 1927 and had started working in theatre while in medical college. It was in 1969, when Lagoo impressed many with his theatre act in Vasant Kanetkar's play Ithe Oshalala Mrityu. He then played the iconic lead role in the play Natasamrat. May this great soul rest in peace!
