One of the reigning box office superstars in Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, is collaborating for the first time with the hit-maker, Rohit Shetty, for a cop film. Titled Sooryavanshi, the movie is aiming for a release in 2019 and is a part of the Singham universe. In fact, Rohit Shetty had even added a little tease of the film in Ranveer Singh's Simmba, that had a cameo from Akshay Kumar. While Rohit Shetty is prepping up for the shoot of the film, the rest of the cast, including the female lead, is yet to be finalised. Calm Down Guys! Katrina Kaif is NOT Starring Opposite Akshay Kumar in Sooryavanshi.

Several names have been heard around in contention for the female lead. The most prominent ones were Katrina Kaif, Pooja Hegde and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The latest actress rumoured to be in the forefront for the role is Sonam Kapoor. If what our sources are telling us is true, the actress, who has been getting adulations for her bold act in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, then it was Akshay Kumar who was pushing for her in the project. Akshay and Sonam had earlier worked in movies like Thank You and Pad Man.

However, as per a source close to the development EXCLUSIVELY told us Rohit Shetty is not very happy with this recommendation. The source revealed, "The role of the female lead is a cop by profession. Rohit (Shetty) feels that Sonam might not be the right fit for this character. In fact, he already has another top actress in mind, with whom he has given a blockbuster in the past."

In the past, Rohit had revealed that he is planning to make a female cop spinoff in the Singham universe. So perhaps this character introduced in Sooryavanshi will take the lead in the spinoff.  Pooja Hegde Is NOT a Part of Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi Yet, Confirms Director Rohit Shetty
