A seven-year-old boy, Kishor Abhi Gupta, died while being taken back home after treatment in Lucknow, around six months after he was bitten by a dog in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district. The child had reportedly received an anti-rabies injection after the incident, but his health suddenly deteriorated this week. Kishor Abhi was the son of Santosh Gupta, a resident of Pure Vijai village in Rajapur. According to reports, the dog-bite incident occurred around six months ago when the child was staying at his maternal aunt's house in Singhni Paharpur under Sangipur police station limits. Following the bite, his family got him an anti-rabies injection. According to the family, the child remained well for nearly six months and did not show any major health problems during this period. His condition suddenly worsened on Wednesday. The family initially gave him medicine for fever, but his condition did not improve. He was then taken to a private hospital for treatment. As his health continued to deteriorate, the family took him to Rae Bareli and subsequently to Lucknow for further treatment. When there was no improvement, the family began returning home with the child. Kishor Abhi died on the way. The family has attributed his death to the dog bite he suffered six months earlier. However, the available report does not establish a confirmed medical diagnosis linking the child's death to rabies or the earlier dog bite. The incident has left the family in shock and has again highlighted concerns surrounding dog-bite cases and the need for proper medical evaluation and follow-up after animal bites.
