Following which, Sethi sent a legal notice the actress in 2013. Koena Mitra Launches an Attack on Huma Qureshi’s Series Leila; Calls It Hinduphobic.

However, things took an early turn when Koena failed to return the desired sum and Poonam eventually had to file a case against her in the court. During the court hearing, Koena assured that her cheques were stolen and the complainant was in no position to lend her such a big sum. These defences, however, weren't accepted by the magistrate of the Andheri Metropolitan Court. Koena Mitra Already Hates Nora Fatehi's 'Saki Saki' Remake from Batla House, Calls it a Mess.

Reacting to these allegations, Koena in her conversation with the tabloid said, "The case is totally false and I have been framed in the matter." She further revealed that she's going to challenge the Court's recent verdict.
