Playback singer Krishna Mukerji, mother of actor Rani Mukerji, passed away on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 75. Several high-profile film personalities visited the crematorium to stand by Rani Mukerji and her brother, film producer Raja Mukherjee, during the last rites.   Actor Shah Rukh Khan arrived alongside his wife Gauri Khan and manager Pooja Dadlani amid heightened security. Filmmaker Karan Johar, a long-time friend and collaborator of Rani, was among the first from the fraternity to arrive. Actress Alia Bhatt and veteran actor Anil Kapoor were also present to offer their sympathies to the grieving family.

Producers Apoorva Mehta and actor Vaani Kapoor also paid their final respects.   Earlier in the day, the family released an official statement confirming the news: “With heavy hearts, we share that Rani Mukerji's mother Mrs Krishna Mukerji, 75, passed away this afternoon. The family is deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support, and respectfully requests privacy during this time of immense grief.”

Krishna Mukerji was an accomplished playback singer, best known for lending her voice to songs such as "Idd Ke Din Gale Mil Le Raja" from the 1982 Hindi feature Teesri Aankh. She was deeply rooted in the film world, having married film director Ram Mukerji in 1972.
