Bollywood actress Moushumi Chatterjee (who was last seen in Deepika Padukone starrer Piku) and her husband Jayanta Mukherjee have approached the Bombay High Court as their daughter's health is deteriorating and they are left in a helpless situation. The two are seeking physical custody to enable them to take care of their 44-year-old daughter Payal. It is also claimed that their son-in-law, businessman Dicky Sinha is not allowing them to see their daughter who has been in a coma since April last year.

Payal was married to Dicky Sinha in 2010. In December 2016, certain disputes occurred over management of the company due to which the relations between the two families strained. Payal, a severe diabetic, had been regularly in and out of the hospital. Payal's health only worsened and she found herself in comatose condition since April 2017.

It is also stated in the petition filed by the veteran Bollywood access that Payal was discharged from a hospital for home care on April 28, 2018 .  It is also stated in the plea that Moushmi and her husband were not permitted to visit their daughter ever since. They also alleged in the said complained that Payal's physiotherapy treatment has been stopped and her own parent have no clue about her health or access to her.

"The doctors advised physiotherapy and progressive changes in her diet so that the tube through which she was being fed could be removed and she could regain the faculty of speech," claims the petition. It also alleged that Payal's husband has been uncooperative and has restricted them any access Moushmi had also written a complaint, as per the reports, at the Khar Police Station on Nov 20, requesting them to take urgent action in order to save Payal's life.
