After the 2014 film Hasee Toh Phasee, Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra reunite once again for another romcom, Jabariya Jodi. Directed by Prashant Singh, Jabariya Jodi is based on the illegal custom of groom-napping happening in certain parts of the interiors. In such cases, a girl's father pays money to goons to kidnap a suitable boy and get him forcibly married to his daughter. Jabariya Jodi was earlier supposed to release on May 17, which was also the day Ajay Devgn's romcom De De Pyaar De was also to release. Co-starring Tabu and Rakul Preet, De De Pyaar De was itself supposed to release earlier on April 26, but made way for Avengers: EndGame on that day.

Now Jabariya Jodi does the same, as it avoids competition with De De Pyaar De. The release date has been pushed ahead, and the film is now going to release on July 12.

As of now, Jabariya Jodi is clashing with Jai Mummy Di, that stars Sunny Singh and Sonnalli Seygall on that date.

Earlier speaking of Jabariya Jodi, one of the producers Sanjeev K Jha had earlier revealed in a statement shared by him, "We always knew such forced marriages happen, but we didn’t know the magnitude of it. I was surprised to see the official data that said that more kidnappings happened in Bihar for the purpose of forced marriage than ransom. It was an eye-opener. It’s hard to believe that such bizarre practices happen in our vicinity even now”. Jabariya Jodi also stars Aparshakti Khurrana, Sanjay Mishra, Neeraj Sood, Gopal Dutt, Jaaved Jaaferi and Chandan Roy Sanyal.
