In a speculative news that could spark much interest in fans of '90s Bollywood cinema, there is going to be a much-awaited reunion of a blockbuster actor-director jodi. As per a report in Mid-Day, Sunny Deol will reunite with his once-favourite director Rajkumar Santoshi to revive an old, shelved project. Can I hear some cheers for that?

As per a report in Mid-Day, the duo is planning to revive a long-gestating project called Fateh Singh. A source close to the development revealed, "Over the past two years, Sunny has been busy with his son’s (Karan Deol) debut film, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas. Now that the project is nearing completion, Sunny has turned his attention to acting assignments. After a long discussion with Santoshi, the two have agreed to take Fateh Singh on floors. The actor will be seen playing a Sikh warrior. Santoshi wants to bring Sunny back in his action avatar and he feels this is the right subject."

Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi had earlier delivered three blockbusters in the '90s with Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak. Deol had even won two National awards for his performances in Ghayal and Damini. However, they had a fallout when both made movies on the freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, that clashed at the box office on the same day (and tanked). Deol went on to himself direct Ghayal Once Again, the sequel to Ghayal.

Both Deol and Santoshi are going through some rough times career-wise, so this move of putting aside egos and working together makes sense. Sunny Deol hasn't given a true hit for like a long time. He will be next seen with his father, Dharmendra and brother, Bobby Deol in Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se.

Rajkumar Santoshi is going through some kind of jinx. He hasn't had a single movie released, after 2013's Phata Poster Nikhla Hero (that starred Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'Cruz), with many of his projects either getting shelved or put on hold. And to think, this man gave us memorable gems like Andaz Apna Apna, The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Khakee, along with the aforementioned films with Sunny Deol.
