Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra and Neena Gupta starrer Badhaai Ho trailer has received a great response. Not many know that veteran actress Neena Gupta bagged this film after she put out a post on Instagram about lack of work in the industry. The talented actress had nailed the part and stands out in the trailer of the film. But did you know that before Neena Gupta this role was offered to Tabu. That’s right; Tabu was approached to play Ayushmann Khurrana’s mother in this movie. The actress was not only skeptical about this role, but was paranoid playing a mom to Ayushmann. Apparently Tabu even insisted that the makers cast Irrfan Khan opposite her in the movie.

However, Irrfan felt that the film belonged to the mother and son and his role wasn’t exciting enough. When Irrfan turned down the movie his Maqbool co-star too decided to skip this film. Buzz also suggests that Tabu wanted to decide on who would play her son in the movie too. Eventually the part landed on Neena Gupta’s place, who seems to have bitten into her character so much that the people are thrilled about this comic drama.

Neena Gupta in an interview revealed how she did not even read the script before giving this movie her nod. She said, “I did not even read the script of the film because the subject was so interesting. Female actors of our age don't get a chance to play such interesting characters. This phase of our life is not addressed only in our Hindi cinema. But I think the change is happening because of the youngsters who are writing such scripts.”

While Tabu turned down Badhaai Ho, the actress will be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba that stars Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan. Badhaai Ho, directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma is slated to release on October 19. The film revolves around an elderly couple who become parents at an awkward age. The part of Neena Gupta husband, which was offered to Irrfan is being played by Gajraj Rao.
