The film retells the story of American history's greatest moment, as the Civil War nears its end, President Abraham Lincoln clashes with members of his cabinet over the issue of abolishing slavery.

4. Black Hawk Down

Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down retells the incident of Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia in 1993, where the U.S. forces attempted to capture warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. But their Black Hawk Super-Six One helicopter was shot down. The fast-paced thriller is a suitable watch for a day that celebrates the brave U.S forces.

5. Rocky IV

While the whole Rocky series is suitable for viewing on the Fourth of July, the fourth part would particularly be a great choice. The film is an ode to Rocky and Creed's friendship as well as a treat to watch as an American given how Rocky avenges his friend's death by fighting the deadly Russian boxer.

6. Zero Dark Thirty

If you want to catch some modern-day espionage thriller then Jessica Chastain starrer Zero Dark Thirty is your best bet. The film dramatizes the nearly decade-long international manhunt for al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden after the September 11 attacks.
