Who is Madame Web?

Madame Web was a character created by Denny O’Neil in November of 1980. The character is usually depicted as a supporting character in the Spider-Man comics. She first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 and ever since then became a huge part of the Wall Crawlers mythos.

Madame Web is a mutant who is paralyzed, blind, telepathic, clairvoyant and precognitive. Earlier in her life she was stricken with myasthenia gravis and was connected to a life support system that was designed by her husband. The system included a lot of tubes and gave the device the shape of a spider-web.

She is approached by Spider-Man first when he is trying to find someone who was kidnapped from Daily Bugle. Over here she learns his secret identity and Spider-Man eventually approaches her for help whenever he needs it.

Madame Web, being a mutant, has psychic powers. Basically think like a blind Professor X, but for Spider-Man. She can also transfer her mutation onto someone else if she dies. Madame Web can also appear in an astral form to others and heal their minds if need be.

There is no set release for Madame Web yet. With Dakota Johnson’s casting, the project is sure to pick up steam soon.
