Nicholas Sparks knows how to tug at the heartstrings. For the ones with a mushy heart, his books are like safe haven. He has penned words that you'd love to jot down in your notebook to revisit again and again. Some books seem like the longest ride ever but the payoff is usually good. Given the choice, we'd like to have all of his books turned into movies. But, there have been only. And pretty much all of them have been a brisk, romantic walk to remember. Only, the lucky ones have a taste for his movie adaptations. Dear John Greene, your books are good but Nicholas can make the heart skip a beat. Vanessa Hudgens to Lead 'The Notebook' Musical Adaptation Reading.

Today, Nicholas Sparks is celebrating his 54th birthday. We'd spend all the possible nights in Rodanthe if it meant that we could wish him personally. But since we cannot, we are listing down all of his books' movie adaptations. Message in a bottle (failed to fit this remaining book title in the intro).

The Notebook

Want to test if someone is a robot from the future or not? Make them watch this movie. If they cry, you have a human on your hands. If they don't, run in the opposite direction. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling's sizzling chemistry makes this one the best on the list.

The Longest Ride

Scott Eastwood and Britt Robertson's romance will make your heart feel all mushy. Alan Alda's performance adds a vintage finesse to this love story.

A Walk To Remember

To this day, watching this movie together could be the perfect first date. The innocence and simplicity of love that is explored here, fills the heart wit joy. There is a melancholy in the story, which brings the movie to a perfect balance.

Dear John

Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried's love story is heartbreaking. The backdrop of war and 9/11 only adds more sadness here. You need to have a strong heart to sit through this one, but if you do, you might find your favourite romantic film.

Safe Haven

Do you ever wonder how two people fall deeply in love right after they have met? If that is not you, then this movie is for you. You see Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel's characters fall slowly and steadily develop feelings for each other.

The Best of Me

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you ended up with your childhood sweetheart? This movie might have a clue for you. Michelle Monaghan and Dawson James Marsden's chemistry translates butterflies in stomach on screen. But, alas, the tragic ending will hit you in the gut. Badly. Spoiler alert. Sorry.

Nights in Rodanthe

Richard Gere and Diane Lane reunite for this film, which is nothing like their previous outing together, Unfaithful. It is up for debate, though, how faithful this movie adaptation is to Nicholas Sparks' book.

The Last Song

This is the movie adaptation that gave us the pairing of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. You get to sing Miley, a lot, in this film, which is like a cherry on the cake.

The Lucky One

Do you believe in destiny? If yes, then this movie featuring Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling is for you. Two plus points, shirtless Zac Efron, and there is a happy ending for a change.

The Choice

Would you have the heart and courage to take your loved one off life support? This movie paints the most positive picture ever. Teresa Palmer and Benjamin Walker star in this film, which is the latest adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks book.

Message In A Bottle

And finally, this gem. The '90s film was not very appreciated by the critics but, boy, does it have a fan base. For a change the characters here are not picture-perfect pristine examples. They are flawed and so human.
