Shahid Kapoor's last film, Kabir Singh, which is the Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster, Arjun Reddy smashed a lot of records at the box-office. Although the film received harsh reviews from a set of people, that didn't stop a huge number of people from going to the theatres to watch the film. Keeping the criticism aside, if you have seen the film, you will agree that this is one of Shahid's finest performances so far. Considering the resounding success of the film, it was being said that Shahid has hiked his fees and that he will be charging anywhere between Rs 35 crore to Rs 40 crore per film from now on.
In fact, some recent reports said that Shahid has demanded Rs 40 crore for the Hindi remake of Telugu hit Jersey starring Nani and Shraddha Srinath. But turns out these were mere speculations, after all. Shahid Kapoor Defends Kabir Singh, Says 'Maybe the Way Kabir Loves Preeti, People Love This Film'
In a recent interview, Shahid was asked if it's true that he has hiked his fees. The actor didn't deny that, but he said that he has to sign a film to increase his remuneration. “I have to sign a film to receive any money. I think the only people who are making money are Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani. I have exactly the same bank balance I had before Kabir Singh, I have to sign another project before I get paid,” he was quoted by Bollywood Hungama. Well, one thing is clear that Shahid has not signed any other film after Kabir Singh, but whether he has increased his fees is still a sort of mystery.
Talking about Kabir Singh, the film starred Kiara Advani as the female lead and it was directed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy, who also helmed Arjun Reddy. Kabir Singh ended up making Rs 270.43 crore at the box-office, thereby becoming Shahid's solo highest grosser in his career so far.
