Alleged Reason Behind Sudden Demise
The report further mentioned that Singh was shooting for daily soap Dr Aarambhi at SJ Studio in Mumbai's Saki Naka. FWICE General Secretary Ashok Dubey said that Singh began shooting at 2 pm and finished around 3 am after the day's work was over.
Dubey shared that Singh had complained of feeling uneasy during the shoot and even took small breaks in between to rest. After completing his shoot, the actor headed for home on a motorcycle. While on the way, the rider stopped at a petrol pump to refuel. During the stop, Singh reportedly collapsed and is suspected to have suffered a heart attack. Family And Final Rites
The report in News9 further stated that Singh is survived by his sister and brother, who are based in Kolkata. Dubey said that his sister is divorced, while his brother is unwell. Following the incident, his post-mortem was carried out at Cooper Hospital. FWICE has stepped in to help the family financially and is arranging for his body to be flown to Kolkata for the final rites.
Industry Body Seeks Support For Family
Dubey has reached out to representatives of the show's producer, Malhar Creations, urging them to provide financial assistance to Singh's family. He said that production houses should take responsibility for the safety and well-being of workers, including while they are travelling for work. Junior artists' supplier Ravindra Suri also assured that all possible help would be provided to the family. Renewed Focus On Industry Work Conditions
Singh's sudden death has once again brought attention to the long and hectic work schedules often faced by television and film workers. Dubey said that for the past six weeks, FWICE, along with Sony and the NGO Doctor For You, has been conducting health check-up camps on shooting sets. As part of the initiative, ambulances are stationed at filming locations to check workers' blood pressure, provide basic medicines, and offer medical advice. The federation also plans to introduce more regular health tests in the future.
Dubey also informed that Singh had recently been elected to the junior artists' committee after winning the union elections around a month ago.
As reported by News9, the official cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is released. Meanwhile, FWICE is likely to write to the production house, requesting compensation for Singh's family.
