Bollywood powerhouse Kangana Ranaut has publicly voiced her staunch support for leading actress Trisha Krishnan, who has recently been at the centre of swirling link-up rumours concerning Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, Thalapathy Vijay. The controversy highlights the ongoing challenges faced by female celebrities, particularly when their personal lives intersect with political narratives. Kangana Ranaut Voices Her Support for Trisha Krishnan

Addressing reporters in Kullu after a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting, Kangana Ranaut, who is also the BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, articulated her dismay at the consistent targeting of women in such situations. While not naming Trisha directly, her remarks clearly referenced the ongoing controversy in Tamil Nadu.

"You have seen what happened in Tamil Nadu, where a very respected artist and actress was involved in a matter where the relationship was between both parties. However, when it comes to abuses and character assassination, it is always the woman who is targeted," Ranaut stated firmly on September 8, 2026.

She further elaborated on the global prevalence of this issue, asserting that "the character of working women, successful women, actors, politicians, women at the position of power and authority is targeted to bring her down." This powerful statement underscores Ranaut's consistent advocacy against gender bias and unwarranted scrutiny in the public eye.

Vijay and the Rumour Mill

The emergence of these link-up rumours is set against the backdrop of a significant political shift in Tamil Nadu. Actor C Joseph Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay, officially launched his political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), in February 2024. He declared his intention to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, aiming for corruption-free politics.

True to his word, the TVK contested the elections held on April 23, 2026, and emerged as the single-largest party, breaking a decades-long political duopoly. Vijay was sworn in as the ninth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, 2026.

This meteoric rise has placed CM Vijay under immense public and media scrutiny, which inevitably extends to those associated with him. Trisha Krishnan has been a frequent and highly successful co-star with Vijay in multiple blockbuster films, including Ghilli (2004),  Thirupaachi (2005),  Aathi (2006),  Kuruvi (2008) and Leo (2023).

The professional rapport and on-screen chemistry between the two have always garnered significant fan attention. The current controversy has been further fuelled by alleged double-meaning remarks made by DMK leader of the opposition, Udhayanidhi Stalin, during a protest in Thanjavur, seemingly referencing Trisha while chanting Vijay's name. While Stalin clarified his comments referred to the Cauvery River, the incident ignited a fresh wave of character assassination against Trisha, prompting CM Vijay himself to issue a warning against derogatory comments about women. Sanjjanaa Galrani Defends Trisha Krishnan Over Independence Day 2026 Celebration Backlash.

As the intersection of cinema and politics in Tamil Nadu becomes increasingly complex, the personal lives of celebrities continue to face intense public and political scrutiny, often unfairly burdening female stars like Trisha Krishnan.
