Murali Kunnumpurath Statement on His Losses
In a distressing statement, Murali Kunnumpurath expressed that he has exhausted all avenues to recover his investment. He pointed to a systemic lack of cooperation from lead actors and industry bodies, which he claims left him to shoulder the financial burden alone.
As per CNBC-TV18, the full, harrowing quote from Murali Kunnumpurath regarding his dire situation is as follows: “I believe most of you know me. Many of you might have seen the film Vellam. What was shown in that movie was for the cinema—it’s not my real life. I am just an ordinary person." He went on to reveal that before entering the Malayalam film industry, he was involved in exporting tiles to Dubai, Australia and parts of Africa. He further informed that unpaid dues from business associates have led to heavy losses.
“I have reached a point where there is no option other than to die,” Murali Kunnumpurath pleaded, explaining that his project, Nadhikalil Sundari Yamuna, resulted in losses of around INR 2 crore. “I lost around INR 2 crore in that. Then came Sumathi Valavu. I believed it would be a big success. But now my life has completely slipped away. I feel like I have no option other than to die. I haven’t lived enough. I haven’t fulfilled my desires. But because of this film, I lost around INR 7 crore,” he said.
“I can’t hold on anymore. I really can’t. I already have a lot of debts, and this has added to it. So, I feel like I’m going. I’m going… I haven’t had enough of living with my wife and children. But creditors are not letting me live. Everyone cheated me, everyone fooled me, and made me like this. Forgive me, everyone. Because of me, many people have suffered. Please, none of you should ever drink. This is what my life has come to. Sorry, friends… I’m sorry," he further said, as per Moneycontrol.
