Actor and filmmaker Samuthirakani has reaffirmed his recent viral criticisms of Thalapathy Vijay, stating he has no regrets regarding his comments about the actor’s public appearance with Trisha Krishnan. Speaking at a promotional event in Hyderabad for his upcoming film Carmeni Selvam, Samuthirakani addressed the controversy surrounding a leaked video in which he questioned Vijay’s personal conduct. Samuthirakani Addresses Leaked Clip Allegedly Criticising Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha Krishnan Amid Their Affair Rumours (Watch Video).

Samuthirakani Defends His Comments About Thalapathy Vijay

During the press conference, Samuthirakani was asked to clarify his stance on a viral video that captured him criticising Vijay. The filmmaker initially appeared surprised by the question but encouraged the reporter to speak "openly." Once the context of the Vijay-Trisha controversy was raised, Samuthirakani confirmed that he was aware he was being recorded at the time and chose to speak his mind regardless.

“Yes, I shared my pain. Whatever came to my mind due to my pain, I shared,” Samuthirakani said, according to Hindustan Times. He noted that while the recording only captured the end of his conversation, his stance remained firm. “I am not the kind to stop speaking my mind because I'm being recorded. I finished saying what I needed to say and asked the brother if he was happy he had gotten it on video.”

The veteran actor explained that his frustration stemmed from his early support for Vijay’s political ambitions. As Vijay prepares to transition into full-time politics with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Samuthirakani suggested that the actor’s public actions should reflect the responsibility of a leader.

“I was one of the first people to support him. That's what caused me pain. That pain is what I expressed,” he stated. He previously told Galatta Tamil that he did not view his comments as a mistake, asserting, “I have not said something that I would regret while in solitude. I don’t see it as a mistake, and I am not sorry for speaking.”

More About Samuthirakanis Controversy Involving Vijay, Trisha Krishnan

The friction began in early March after Vijay and Trisha Krishnan attended a wedding reception in Chennai, appearing to "twin" in coordinated outfits. The public appearance fueled long-standing rumours regarding their relationship, which intensified following reports that Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, had filed for divorce, citing infidelity.

In the viral video that sparked the backlash, Samuthirakani was heard questioning why personal matters were being brought into the public eye. “So many things are happening, why take it outside? Shouldn't it be kept within four walls? Whom is he taking revenge on?” he reportedly asked in the clip. Thalapathy Vijay SLAMS DMK Over Alleged Derogatory Remarks Against Women Amid Sangeetha Sornalingam Divorce Case, Netizens React.

Samuthirakani is not the only industry figure to voice concern; filmmaker R Parthiban has also shared similar critiques. The timing of the controversy is particularly sensitive as Vijay is currently filming his final project, Thalapathy 69, before pivoting entirely to his political career ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections.
