Actress and former Lok Sabha MP Sumalatha Ambareesh has publicly backed actor Yash following a wave of mixed reviews and online criticism directed at his latest feature film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Addressing the commentary surrounding the release, Sumalatha took to social media to voice her support for Yash's performance and choices as an actor. In a lengthy note published on her official Instagram handle, the veteran artist praised Yash for taking creative risks rather than relying on familiar formulas.  Sumalatha highlighted his evolution on screen, describing his portrayal in the film as outstanding and pivotal to his career trajectory.

"My dear Yash, Just watched Toxic and wanted to tell you this," Sumalatha wrote. "I always knew you were fearless, and that you would choose to tread your own path rather than follow anyone else's. But in this movie, what stood out for me above everything was you. Your performance was outstanding truly mind-blowing. The entire film is a vibrant visual spectacle and, without doubt, a significant milestone for you and the filmmaker."

She went on to suggest that public reaction to the project might stem from high expectations or a shift in narrative tone, adding: "Perhaps Toxic is simply far ahead of its time. Or perhaps parts of it have been misunderstood or unfairly judged by those who are uncomfortable with what you have become... or might become yet. Success like yours will attract all kinds of jealousy too. But I know you are not one to care for that."
