Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani 2026 Aagman Date

Chinchpokli’s Chintamani has long been among Mumbai’s best-known Ganpati idols and attracts large crowds of devotees during Ganeshotsav. The Chintamani 2026 aagman procession is scheduled for August 29. Devotees are expected to gather in large numbers for the first public glimpse of the 24-foot idol.

Dighole said the idol's design will draw from the revered Tirupati Balaji theme while retaining the traditional grandeur associated with Chinchpokli's iconic Ganpati. “This year, Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani is based on the theme of Tirupati Balaji. It is a 24-foot Ganesh idol seated on a singhasan,” Dighole said. Mumbai Ganesh Idol Accident: 2 Killed, 5 Injured After 22-Foot ‘Bhuleshwar Cha Raja’ Collapses During Procession (Video).

Who Is Making Chinchpokli Chintamani 2026?

Siddesh Dighole of Kalagandh Arts is creating the Chintamani idol this year. The Parel-based sculptor is a student of Vijay Khatu and is working on several prominent Ganpati idols for the 2026 festival.

Dighole told mid-day that his workshop is responsible for idols for several major Mumbai mandals, including Chinchpokli’s Chintamani, Chandanwadi Cha Raja, Kalachowki Cha Mahaganpati, Khetwadi Ganpati and Dongri Cha Raja.

Chintamani Mandal Welcomes Adani Support

Chinchpokli Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal member Sarvesh Shirke said advertising has long been an integral part of Ganeshotsav, with festivals funded through contributions, donations and advertisements.

He said the mandal's activities extend beyond Ganeshotsav and include Navratri celebrations, a study centre for students, a library, blood donation camps and other social programmes throughout the year.

“Social responsibility is our mandal’s primary objective while organising festivals. This year, the support extended by the Adani Group is extremely valuable. Their support has helped us organise the festival better and take our social initiatives to people in need,” Shirke said. He added that the mandal was grateful for the group's support and welcomed its efforts to promote culture, tradition and socially beneficial activities. “Receiving the support of such a reputed group is a matter of pride for our mandal,” Shirke said.

Bhuleshwar Idol Collapse Raises Safety Concerns

The recent collapse of the Bhuleshwar Cha Raja idol has also brought renewed attention to safety during the transportation and installation of large Ganpati idols. Dighole said the incident had raised important questions and provided lessons for idol makers and mandals.

He stressed the need to identify potential risks and take preventive measures to ensure that similar incidents do not occur. The safety of large idols is particularly important during the movement of idols through crowded city roads and their subsequent installation at mandals.
