New Delhi, June 22: The Air India airlines, owned by the Indian government, is reportedly undergoing a significant financial cash crunch.  It has therefore decided to revamp the Maharaj business class to attract more flyers. The aviation minister Jayant Sinha said, "The airline would launch a revamped Maharaja business class."

As per the PTI, the Maharaja class experience will include new Maharaja business class seats, new uniforms for the crew and variety of cuisines. The purpose is to bring a fresh look, considering the airlines has been facing the tough competition from other airlines selling economic packages and low-cost tickets to attract passengers.

Furthermore, the makeover will be done in the section of Air India's first class and business class segments in Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft. The current seats would be swapped for the Maharaja class seats. Reportedly, these aircraft operate on both short and long-haul international routes.

Air India has been in the news in the recent times for failing to attract buyers for its disinvestment plan. In nearly two decades, this is reportedly the second time that the debt-ridden carrier failed to take off. The airline which is facing acute cash crunch problem as per earlier reports had asked the government to restore equity infusion after it was unable to find any buyers in its privatisation bid. The loss-making carrier received more than Rs. 26,000 crore under the bailout package announced by the former UPA government.
