The Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC), Patna, has released the BSUSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 notification, inviting online applications for 3,687 Assistant Professor vacancies in universities and government degree colleges across Bihar. The recruitment will be conducted on a contractual basis.
The online application process commenced on July 3, 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications through the Samarth portal till July 15, 2026. According to the official schedule, the recruitment process will be completed on a fast-track basis, with appointments expected by August 7, 2026.

BSUSC Assistant Professor Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates must possess:
- A Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks from a recognised university.
- A 5% relaxation (minimum 50% marks) is available for SC, ST, BC (Non-Creamy Layer), EBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and Persons with Disabilities candidates.

PhD Exemption From NET
Candidates are exempt from the NET requirement if they:
- Hold a PhD awarded under UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016.
- Obtained a PhD before 2009 and fulfil the prescribed UGC conditions, including evaluation by two external examiners, an open viva voce and publication of two research papers.

BSUSC Assistant Professor Age Limit 2026
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Maximum age: 43 years (as on August 1, 2026)
Age relaxation for reserved category candidates will be applicable as per Bihar government norms.
BSUSC Assistant Professor Selection Process 2026
There will be no written examination for the recruitment.
Selection will be based on a 100-mark evaluation:
- Academic qualifications: 88 marks
- PhD
- Research publications
- JRF
- NET qualification
- Postgraduate marks
- Undergraduate marks
- Class 12 marks
- Class 10 marks
- Interview: 12 marks
- Teaching skills: 6 marks
- Personal interview: 6 marks
The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined score.

BSUSC has announced that no application fee will be charged from candidates of any category. Eligible applicants can submit their applications free of cost through the Samarth portal.
