NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Results: NTA Confirms Declaration by July 20

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to declare the results for the re-conducted National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 by July 20, according to a senior agency official. The re-examination, held on June 21, was necessitated after the original May 3 test was cancelled due to allegations of a paper leak. Despite the compressed timeline, the NTA has assured students that the academic year for MBBS students will not be delayed. The agency is currently prioritising the evaluation process to ensure a timely release of results.

"We would not like to give out any date as of now, but the result will be out by July 20. Normally, the results are announced within 45 days of the examination, but this time, as we have conducted the exam in 37 days, we will announce the results much earlier," the senior official told ANI during a telephonic interview.
The NTA is currently finalising the results after processing candidate objections. Following the release of the provisional answer key on June 25, the agency received approximately 10,000 challenges by the June 28 deadline. Regarding the review process, the official noted: "We need to scan all the challenges one by one, examine the supporting evidence, and respond to each one of them." A fee of INR 200 per challenged question is levied to cover administrative costs, which is refunded if the challenge is validated.
Counselling and Academic Schedule
The declaration of results will initiate the national and state-level counselling processes. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) manages the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats, including those at AIIMS, JIPMER, and central and deemed universities. The remaining 85 per cent of seats fall under the purview of individual state counselling authorities. While the exact counselling schedule is yet to be released, officials emphasised that the academic session will commence on time, adhering to the standard August or September start date for first-year MBBS courses. Historically, the counselling timeline follows closely after the results. For instance, in 2025, the MCC released its schedule about one week after the results were declared, with registration for the first round beginning shortly thereafter. Candidates are advised to monitor the official NTA and MCC websites for the latest notifications regarding the counselling calendar, which will involve online registration, choice filling, and document verification.
