The Election Commission of India has extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra by ten days. Originally scheduled to conclude on July 29, the house-to-house enumeration process and the collection of enumeration forms will now continue until August 8. The extension follows a request from the Maharashtra State Election Commission, which cited logistical challenges caused by the ongoing Ashadhi Ekadashi Vaari, which diverted significant administrative resources in key regions like Pune, Solapur, and Sangli.

What Is the SIR Enumeration Form?

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a major initiative by the Election Commission to ensure the accuracy of electoral rolls. The process involves verifying existing voter details and updating the rolls by eliminating duplicate, shifted, or deceased entries. How To Check if Your BLO Has Uploaded Your Enumeration Form on ECI Portal.

For the current exercise, the government is using pre-filled forms based on voter data from 2002–2004. Voters are required to verify their details, update their current residential status, and provide necessary personal information to ensure their names remain on the electoral roll.

How To Submit Your Enumeration Form Online

While the primary mode of collection is through door-to-door visits by Polling Station Level Officers (BLOs), eligible citizens can also participate in the process online. To submit your form digitally, follow these steps:

  • Access the Portal: Visit the official Voter Service Portal at voters.eci.gov.in or the Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer’s website.
  • Search Your Details: Use your EPIC (Voter ID) number or search by name to locate your entry in the last SIR electoral roll.
  • Fill the Form: Click on the "Fill Enumeration Form" option. You will need to verify your mobile number via an OTP.
  • Aadhaar E-Sign: The process requires Aadhaar-based e-signing. Ensure your Aadhaar number is linked to your mobile number to complete the verification.
  • Confirmation: Once submitted, download the receipt for your records.

Key Guidelines for Voters

State electoral officials have emphasised that the primary goal of the SIR is to verify residential status. If you are unable to map your details to older records or lack specific supporting documents at this moment, you are still encouraged to fill in your current personal details and sign the form to ensure your inclusion in the upcoming draft roll. How To Submit Your SIR Enumeration Form Online.

Citizens will then have the opportunity to file claims and objections through September 16. The final publication of electoral rolls is scheduled for October 19
