kathua, April 24: The entire nation is seething with disgust and anger over the rape which shook everyone. The chilling details of Kathua rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl, where medical opinion has established beyond doubt that the victim was held in captivity and administered sedatives and her cause of death was asphyxia leading to a cardiopulmonary arrest. According to ANI, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua has rejected the bail application of the juvenile accused in rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua.

As per ANI report, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had informed two days back that they are in the process of submitting a supplementary charge sheet in the Kathua rape case. The case attracted a lot of media attention as celebrities as well as politicians have come to the streets demanding strict punishment against the culprits. In connection with the case, two First Information Reports (FIRs) were filed - one against eight people for allegedly being involved in the crime, and another has been filed against a group of lawyers which had reportedly stopped the police from filing charge sheet against the eight accused. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shwetambari Sharma, the lone woman in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) faced a lot of difficulties from collecting evidence to being threatened.

Deepika S Rajawat, who is the counsel of Kathua rape victim's family, even alleged a threat to her life and said that she would tell the Supreme Court about the danger to her life. She was quoted as saying, "I don't know till when I will be alive. I might be raped, my modesty may be outraged, I may be killed, I might be damaged. I was threatened yesterday that 'we will not forgive you'. I am going to tell SC tomorrow that I am in danger."

The girl belonged to a nomadic Muslim tribe in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir and was allegedly abducted, drugged, gang-raped, tortured and killed in January.
