After announcing free treatment for poor drug addicts at all state-run de-addiction centres, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday urged the police not to harass addicts or their families in any way. On Tuesday, the Constitution bench of Supreme Court heard the pleas seeking scrapping of Section 377 of IPC which criminalises homosexuality. The Apex Court has said that it is ready to examine the correctness of the 2013 verdict on gay sex. Supreme Court had reversed the High Court order in December 2013, and pointed out that those indulging in gay sex will be prosecuted and sentenced under Section 377.
