After announcing free treatment for poor drug addicts at all state-run de-addiction centres, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday urged the police not to harass addicts or their families in any way. Heavy rains lashed Mumbai over the last few days, causing severe water-logging and immense inconvenience to people in the city. There was a flood-like situation in Nalasopara and other places. Till now 35 people have died in the Mumbai rains, as per reports. According to the recent IMD update, intermittent rain with heavy falls at few places very likely over city and suburbs in the next 24 hours.

On Tuesday, the Constitution bench of Supreme Court heard  the pleas seeking scrapping of Section 377 of IPC which criminalises homosexuality.  The Apex Court has said that it is ready to examine the correctness of the 2013 verdict on gay sex.  Supreme Court had reversed the High Court order in December 2013, and pointed out that those indulging in gay sex will be prosecuted and sentenced under Section 377.
