New Delhi, November 30: Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey on Friday took over as the new Revenue Secretary replacing Hasmukh Adhia. Pandey, a 1984 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Maharashtra cadre also holds the post of Chairman of Goods and Service Tax Network (GSTN). Before joining UIDAI in 2010, Pandey served as Managing Director of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company. During tenure, he brought down transmission and distribution losses.

He was also Principal Secretary, Information Technology in Maharashtra. In his initial career, he had headed Enforcement Division of Maharashtra Sales Tax department. After pursuing an Electrical Engineering Degree from IIT Kanpur, he joined the University of Minnesota in 1998 to obtain his MS and PhD in Computer Science. GST Collections Increase to Rs 96,483 Crore in July, From Rs 95,610 Crore in June: Hasmukh Adhia

A 1981-batch Gujarat cadre officer of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Adhia announced his retirement in mid-November on Twitter. In November 2014, he moved to New Delhi and was appointed as the secretary in the department of financial services. As the revenue and finance secretary, Adhia spearheaded the team for the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax.
