Doval's visit to Jammu and Kashmir assumes significance in view of reports that Pakistan has reactivated terror launch pads in Balakot and 450 to 500 militants are waiting to infiltrate into the state. Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed has also issued death threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah and Doval in addition to attacks in 30 Indian cities. NSA Ajit Doval on Article 370 Repeal: Majority of Kashmir Supporting Move, 92.5% of J&K Freed of Restrictions.

"The NSA has expressed satisfaction over the handling of the situation by the security forces while adding that every effort needs to be put in place to ensure that the common man is put to least inconvenience," sources were quoted as saying. "The NSA has been receiving regular feedback on security, law and order, civil supplies, etc. on a daily basis from the state administration," they added.

Authorities are also considering restoring mobile phone services in Kashmir in the coming day. BSNL postpaid mobile services might be restored in the first stage. Jammu and Kashmir has been under unprecedented security lockdown and communication blackout since the Modi government withdrew its special status under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.

Doval had stayed for 11 days in Kashmir immediately after the revocation of Article 370 on August 5. During that period,  he had visited terror-hit Shopian town in south Kashmir and Downtown Srinagar. Videos surfaced in which he was seen interacting with locals and having food with them.
