Alkem Laboratories has announced the official launch of NeuCeno, containing cenobamate, for the treatment of partial-onset seizures in adult patients. The medication marks the first time cenobamate is being made available in India, introducing a new therapeutic option for a country where an estimated 94 lakh people live with epilepsy.

In clinical studies involving adult patients with uncontrolled focal seizures despite existing medications, adjunctive treatment with cenobamate demonstrated substantial reductions in seizure frequency. According to exchange filings, the therapy showed up to a 78 per cent reduction in seizure frequency, with up to 30 per cent of patients achieving complete seizure freedom during the maintenance phase.
