At least four people were killed and 13 others rescued after a three-storey under-construction building collapsed in Haryana's Ambala on Sunday afternoon. Rescue teams from the NDRF, SDRF, police and fire department are continuing operations as authorities check whether more workers remain trapped under the debris, according to a report.
Building Collapses in Dhulkot
The incident occurred around 3 pm in Dhulkot village of Ambala city. Several workers were present at the construction site when the structure collapsed. Death Toll Rises to Four
Ambala SP Ajit Singh Shekhawat confirmed that four deaths had been reported and 13 people had been rescued from the debris. Several rescued workers were taken to hospital for treatment. Earlier in the operation, officials had reported two bodies recovered from the site. NDRF, SDRF Lead Rescue Operation
NDRF and SDRF personnel are working alongside police, fire brigade teams and other emergency services to remove debris and search for anyone who may still be trapped.
Officials said several workers at the site were migrants. The rescue operation remained underway late Sunday as teams searched through the collapsed structure.
Owner, Contractor Not at Site
Officials said the ownership details of the building were yet to be established. The contractor and the building owner were reportedly not present at the site when officials reached the location. Ambala SP Shekhawat said legal action would be taken if any negligence was found to have contributed to the collapse. The exact cause of the incident has not yet been established.
Rescue Efforts Continue
Authorities are continuing to assess the situation and verify the number of people who were working inside the building at the time of the collapse. The priority remains locating anyone who could still be trapped and completing the rescue operation safely.
