Haryana: 11-Year-Old Boy Molested at Satlok Ashram; Sevadar Arrested
An 11-year-old boy was allegedly molested at the Satlok Ashram located in Haryana, prompting a swift police response. Authorities have arrested a sevadar (volunteer) connected to the ashram following a formal complaint lodged by the victim's family.
An 11-year-old boy was allegedly molested at Satlok Ashram in Dhanana village, Sonipat, prompting Baroda police to register a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from S*xual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police arrested a man identified as Sachin on September 24, and a court subsequently sent him to judicial custody. TOI reported.
Child Welfare Committee Alerts Police
According to Sonipat Police, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) informed Baroda police about the alleged incident on September 23. The boy had reportedly come to the ashram with his father. A police team reached the premises and took the child and his father into protective care. The child was subsequently taken to a medical facility in Khanpur Kalan, where counselling and necessary legal and medical procedures were initiated. During counselling, the child reportedly provided information about the alleged incident. Based on the child's father's statement and information received from the CWC, police registered an FIR under Section 74 of the BNS and Section 10 of the POCSO Act.
Accused Arrested, Sent to Judicial Custody
Police identified the accused as Sachin, a resident of Kansadi village in Sonipat district. DCP Gohana Jitendra Gehlawat said Sachin was associated with the ashram as a sevadar and had taken naam diksha from Sant Rampal Maharaj. Sachin was arrested on September 24, questioned by investigators and produced before a court. He was subsequently sent to judicial custody. The child's statement was also recorded before a magistrate, according to police. Ashram Committee Gives Different Account
The Satlok Ashram management has disputed aspects of the police account. Committee member Om Prakash Saini said the boy was not connected with the ashram and claimed the alleged incident did not take place inside the premises. He said a dispute had occurred between two boys on a bus.
Another ashram representative, Vikas, told The Tribune that Sachin was a follower who had come to perform sewa and was not an employee of the ashram. He said the ashram had informed police after learning about the matter. Police, however, have confirmed the FIR and arrest of the accused.
The alleged incident is reported to have occurred on the night of September 22-23. Investigators are examining the statements and other material gathered during the inquiry. The child has been provided counselling and other assistance as part of the legal process. The allegations against the accused remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
