Thiruvananthapuram, June 25: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday overruled the Censor Board's ban on the release Anand Patwardhan's documentary - 'Vivek/Reason' at the International Documentary & Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK). With the judicial nod, screening will be held tomorrow (June 26), on the final day of the festival underway in Thiruvananthapuram.

The documentary was originally scheduled to be released at the film festival on June 24, but was stalled after the Censor Board refused to issue its approval. Article 15: Here's What Censor Board Found Objectionable in Ayushmann Khurrana's Controversial Cop Drama

The certification body noted that the film could violate "law and order" as it touched upon sensitive subjects. The apprehension was set aside by the Justice Shaji P. Chaly, who ruled in favour of petitioner Kerala State Chalachitra Academy.

The bench, however, clarified that it has permitted the documentary to be released only at IDSFFK, and not at any other film festival or theatre across the nation.

'Vivek/Reason' has won awards at 31 film festivals around the globe. The documentary covers the murder case of rationalists Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare, along with the lynching of Mohammed Akhlaque in Uttar Pradesh's Dadri.
