Inspections Carried Out At Six High-End Eateries
The inspections were carried out on Sunday at six high-end eateries in UB City and Brigade Road as part of the department's ongoing drive to check compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and related food safety regulations. During the inspection at Skyee Lounge on the 16th floor of UB City, officials found the kitchen being maintained in an unhygienic manner. The department said meat and beef stored at the premises were rotten and had fungus. Officials also found milk and curd that had expired around 10 days earlier at the lounge. 45 Kg Rotten Chicken And Beef Found At Hotel Sky, UB City
At Hotel Sky, UB City, officials found 45 kg of rotten chicken and beef, along with 6 kg of vegetable cutlets and 15 litres of used cooking oil. The food items were declared unfit for consumption and were discarded or destroyed as per procedure, officials said.
Duck, Fish And Other Items Seized From Other Eateries
At other eateries, the department seized or disposed of several food items. At Royal Chain Hotel, officials seized 50 kg of duck and 5 kg of fish, taking the total quantity to 55 kg. At Madras Kitchen, 5 kg of green peas were seized, while 5 kg of mushrooms were seized from Tescon Hotel. At Senchez Hotel, officials seized 3 kg of fish, while another 7 kg of cake, potatoes and tacos were discarded.
According to the department, a total of 132 kg of food articles were seized or disposed of during the inspections.
Enforcement Drive To Continue Across Bengaluru
The action was part of the department's efforts to verify whether food businesses are complying with prescribed hygiene and food safety standards. Officials said the inspections would continue as part of the ongoing enforcement drive across Bengaluru.
