A 27-year-old man from Tripura died by suicide in Ejipura, Bengaluru, after allegedly sustaining irreversible injuries to his private parts during an assault by acquaintances. The deceased, identified as Tapan Nath, was found hanging in his rented room in the Ejipura area on Sunday night, July 12. Nath, who worked at a craft beer and international bar in Koramangala, did not report for his shift on Sunday.

Later that evening, at approximately 11:30 PM, his roommate returned to their shared accommodation to discover his body hanging from the ceiling fan. The Viveknagar police were alerted, and the body was subsequently shifted for a post-mortem examination. Bengaluru Shocker: Sikkim Woman Killed by Boyfriend in Karnataka; Police Probe Affair Suspicion Angle.

Allegations of Prior Assault

Family members and friends have reported that the tragedy stemmed from a violent incident that occurred three to four months prior. According to statements provided to the police, Nath was attending a party with friends when an argument broke out under the influence of alcohol. During the altercation, Nath was allegedly assaulted and struck in his private parts, resulting in severe injuries. Fearing social stigma, Nath initially kept the incident quiet and sought private medical treatment. His family alleges that medical professionals later informed him that the damage was irreversible and had affected his ability to father children. They claim this diagnosis caused Nath to slip into a deep depression, which they believe ultimately led to his suicide. Bengaluru Shocker: PG Owner Beaten to Death After Dispute Over Water Tap Use.

Official Investigation Into the Incident

The Viveknagar police have registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) based on the formal complaint filed by the family. Authorities are now working to verify the allegations and determine the exact sequence of events that led to the incident. Regarding the ongoing inquiry, a senior police officer stated, “Tapan's friends and family told us about his condition but we are not sure about it. We have to contact the doctor who treated him to help us ascertain the exact reason behind Tapan's death”. Investigators plan to review Nath’s medical records and conduct interviews with the individuals who were present during the alleged assault.
