Bhopal, May 11: A man has been booked by Gunga police in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal for allegedly abducting and raping a 16-year-old girl. The accused, identified as Vikram Meena, reportedly befriended the girl over Instagram and abducted her on his bike on the pretext of going for an outing. 

According to a report in TOI, the girl, a class 10 student, was taken to a rented room in the Acharpura area where the alleged rape occurred. The girl’s family began searching for her when she was missing for more than two hours. Her brother found her on the way home, and she revealed the incident to them. Gunga police have registered a rape case against Meena under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act and have begun investigations.

This comes after a 24-year-old woman in Mumbai allegedly died by suicide due to mental harassment from two men, one of whom she met on social media while the other was her boyfriend. The woman, a private tutor and BCom graduate, reportedly jumped from the terrace of her building in Jogeshwari East on May 3. A probe has been launched in the matter.
