The incident took place in Simri Bakhtiyarpur town after the nikah of Mohammad Abdullah alias Chand, son of Mohammad Anwar, with the daughter of Mohammad Javed alias Moto on Thursday afternoon. According to officials, the wedding ceremony concluded peacefully before the dispute broke out during the post-nikah feast. Family members from the groom's side claimed they had been assured that mutton would be served to the baraatis. However, when lunch was served, they found chicken on their plates, triggering a heated argument with the bride's family.
The verbal altercation soon escalated into a physical fight, with members of both families exchanging blows. Videos circulating on social media show people attacking each other with sticks, while one clip allegedly shows a man brandishing a sword during the chaos. Around a dozen people sustained injuries in the clash and were taken to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Simri Bakhtiyarpur for treatment.
Police rushed to the wedding venue after receiving information about the violence and brought the situation under control. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
