A 42-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death following a dispute over INR 10 at a petrol pump near Hunchinala Camp in Karnataka's Raichur district. Police have arrested six accused in connection with the incident, which took place on the night of July 8. The victim, identified as Meghnath, succumbed to his injuries after undergoing treatment at a hospital in Raichur.

According to police, the altercation began when Meghnath's friend Mahesh purchased petrol and a dispute broke out with petrol pump staff over INR 10. Police said Mahesh had just bought petrol from the Hunchinala petrol pump when an argument erupted between him and petrol pump employee Ravi because Mahesh had given him 10 rupees less.

Nagaraj and Meghnath, who were accompanying Mahesh, stepped in to stop the altercation. According to police, the accused allegedly confronted them, saying, "Why are you interfering in our fight? You've done too much, we won't let you go today." Police said Veeresh allegedly struck Meghnath on the head with a stick. Investigators further alleged that Ravi also picked up a stick and hit Meghnath on the head, while Narasimha struck him on the back with a stick, causing him to collapse unconscious.

In her complaint, Meghnath's wife stated that the accused also attacked Mahesh and Nagaraj, who had gone to resolve the dispute. Seriously injured, Meghnath was admitted to a hospital in Raichur and underwent head surgery on Thursday morning. However, the treatment proved ineffective, and he died around 8:25 am.

The deceased has been identified as Meghnath (42). Police have arrested Ravi, Veeresh, Narasimha, Mareppa, Ramesh and Praveen in connection with the case. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the petrol pump. Idappanur police responded to the scene, conducted an investigation and arrested the accused. A case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, and further investigation is underway.
