CJP Rejects Govt Talks, Insists Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation is Non-Negotiable

An attempt by the Central Government to resume dialogue with the leadership of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has hit a wall, as the group rejected the fresh offer for talks on Thursday, according to government sources. The deadlock prolongs the ongoing agitation in the national capital over alleged irregularities and paper leaks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

The rejection comes days after CJP representatives met Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on July 20 to present a formal charter of demands. While government representatives sought to establish a continuing line of communication, CJP leadership maintained that negotiations cannot proceed without explicit action on their primary conditions. Outlining the group's stance, CJP spokesperson Sourav Das stated that three primary demands must be addressed before any further formal talks take place: the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a ₹1 crore compensation package for families of students who died by suicide following the NEET controversy, and the complete withdrawal of FIRs filed against peaceful demonstrators alongside a sovereign guarantee against future legal action.

Das reiterated that the demand for the Education Minister’s resignation remains "non-negotiable," asserting that demonstrations in the capital and other parts of the country will continue indefinitely until the government complies.

The protest movement has drawn support from prominent climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has continued his hunger strike after being admitted to a hospital. Das confirmed ongoing communications with Wangchuk, emphasizing a mutual commitment to maintaining peaceful demonstrations and warning against potential sabotage by unauthorized elements attempting to disrupt the movement. In response to the growing nationwide concern over competitive examination integrity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a statement on Thursday, announcing the establishment of fast-track courts specifically designated to handle cases of paper leaks. In a public message, the Prime Minister assured that individuals involved in compromising the future of students would face swift and stringent legal action under directive orders issued to relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, parliamentary proceedings remain impacted as Opposition leaders demand a full-fledged debate on the examination system, insisting on executive accountability as student groups continue their demonstrations across multiple cities.
