Delhi Metro Advisory: 6 Stations To Remain Gate-Closed Today As Opposition Plans Supreme Court March
Entry and exit gates at six central Delhi metro stations, including Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat, will stay shut from 6 am to 4 pm on October 12 ahead of the opposition's march to the Supreme Court over 'vote chori' claims.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has closed entry and exit gates at six key stations in central Delhi, including Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat, from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm on Monday, October 12, following security advisories issued ahead of a planned opposition march to the Supreme Court. The restrictions come as opposition leaders prepare to press their allegations of electoral malpractice, and commuters heading into the heart of the capital have been asked to plan for delays.
Opposition March Over 'Vote Chori' Allegations
The march is being led by opposition leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. They are heading towards the apex court over alleged 'vote chori', a term used for electoral manipulation.
The leaders had sought an audience with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant to submit their representations on the issue.
