Police in Dhar district have solved the murder of 32-year-old Devkrishna Purohit, who was killed on the night of April 7 in Gondikheda Charan village under Rajod police station limits. Investigators say the victim’s wife, Priyanka Purohit, allegedly planned the killing along with her lover and hired a contract killer to carry out the murder.

The case, initially believed to be a robbery, has now been reclassified as a premeditated contract killing. Police said the accused entered the house around 1 am, assaulted Devkrishna, and stole valuables worth nearly INR 3 lakh to stage the crime scene. Raja Raghuvanshi-Like Murder in Dhar: Woman, Lover Conspire To Kill Husband, Stage Robbery To Mislead Police; Arrested.

Wife Allegedly Planned Killing With Lover

According to police, Priyanka Purohit allegedly conspired with her lover, Kamlesh Purohit, to eliminate her husband. Investigators say the couple paid ₹1 lakh to an alleged contract killer, identified as Surendra Bhati, who is currently absconding.

Both Priyanka and Kamlesh have been arrested, while efforts are underway to trace the third accused.

Alleged Domestic Conflict Before the Murder

Relatives said frequent arguments took place between the couple. The victim’s sister alleged that Priyanka had previously threatened divorce and, at times, physically assaulted her husband. The victim’s mother also claimed that her daughter-in-law’s behaviour caused constant tension in the family and did not allow her son to live peacefully.

Police said the case was first registered as a suspected robbery and murder after unidentified individuals allegedly broke into the house and attacked the victim. However, further investigation revealed inconsistencies, leading to the discovery of an alleged conspiracy involving the wife and her lover. The police are continuing efforts to apprehend the absconding accused and verify all statements in the case.
