The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has restored its Unified Member Portal following a week-long downtime for a scheduled technological overhaul. While the web platform is back online with a refreshed interface, the retirement fund body has implemented significant changes, most notably moving core Universal Account Number (UAN) services entirely to the government's UMANG mobile application. Despite the migration of account creation and activation to mobile, several critical services remain on the primary web portal. The upgraded portal also introduces a simplified method for retrieving a forgotten UAN. Members can now recover their number by entering their registered mobile number, uploading a valid identity or address proof, and confirming an One-Time Password (OTP) sent to their phone.

System Stabilization and Expected Processing Delays

The recent maintenance window, which initially began on June 26, was extended past its original deadline to complete a massive database consolidation and software modernization exercise. The EPFO stated that the upgrade is designed to provide faster, more secure, and more reliable digital infrastructure for its millions of subscribers.

However, the organization has cautioned users that claims and online service requests may experience slight delays over the initial two-week stabilization period. Because additional validation and verification checks are being performed post-migration, the EPFO has advised subscribers and employers to avoid making repeated login attempts or submitting duplicate requests during peak operational hours.
