Ganesh Chaturthi in Antarctica: Scientists Craft Snow Ganesha Idol, Celebrate With Pooja and Visarjan

Indian scientists stationed at Antarctica's Maitri Station found a unique way to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi by creating a Lord Ganesha idol out of snow and performing the traditional festivities thousands of kilometres away from home.

An Instagram video shared by Anirudh Dhar, who works with the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) in Goa, captured the celebrations at Maitri Station. The group then gathered inside the station to perform the Ganesh Chaturthi pooja. They later carried out the visarjan of the snow idol while chanting 'Ganpati Bappa Morya' and celebrating together.

The festivities also included handmade modaks, adding another traditional touch to the celebration in the Antarctic region.
