A man in Bengaluru has claimed that an artificial intelligence powered traffic camera mistook the guitar strapped to his back for a pillion passenger without a helmet, resulting in a Rs 500 fine. The user, identified as Souvik Dutta, said on X, formerly Twitter, that he was riding his wife's electric scooter alone, wearing his own helmet, while carrying a guitar case slung across his shoulders. A few days later, his wife received an official traffic violation notice for pillion riding without a helmet, along with a photo captured by the road camera that clearly showed Dutta riding solo with only the instrument case visible behind him.
Man Questions Accuracy Of AI Based System
Dutta shared the challan details and the camera image on social media to highlight the error, tagging the Bengaluru Traffic Police and questioning the reliability of the automated detection system while requesting that the fine be withdrawn.
