A 19-year-old NEET aspirant from Haryana's Hisar district died by suicide on Sunday morning, June 21, just hours before she was scheduled to appear for the medical entrance examination, police said.

The deceased, a resident of Dhani Khan Bahadur village in the Barwala area, had been preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and was set to appear for the examination later that day. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and said it is too early to determine whether the death was linked to examination-related stress.Β Hyderabad: NEET Aspirant Dies by Suicide a Day Before Re-NEET.

According to family members, the teenager had been preparing for NEET while staying in Sikar, Rajasthan. Sunday was her third attempt at the medical entrance examination. The family said she was unable to qualify in her first attempt, while her second attempt was cancelled following the paper leak controversy that affected the examination process.

Her father, a field officer with HAFED in Uklana, said she appeared normal before the incident and had spent the previous night studying. "She didn't give any indication that she would take such a step. She seemed completely normal," he said.Β 'Thinking of Doing Something Different Today': Ghaziabad NEET Aspirant Dies by Suicide 2 Days Before NEET UG Re-Exam.

Family members said the teenager's health suddenly deteriorated on Sunday morning before she was due to leave for her examination centre. She was initially taken for medical assistance and was later shifted to a private hospital in Hisar. However, doctors declared her brought dead on arrival. Police have not disclosed further details as the investigation is ongoing.

Hisar Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain said authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. "Yes, there are reports that a 19-year-old NEET aspirant died by suicide. However, it cannot be ascertained that her death was due to examination-related stress," Jain said. He added that a post-mortem examination had been conducted and that further investigation was underway.

Village sarpanch Vijay Singh also said there was no confirmed evidence linking the death directly to the examination. Officials said investigators are speaking with family members and examining all relevant aspects of the case before drawing conclusions.

The incident occurred on the day thousands of students appeared for the NEET examination, one of India's most competitive entrance tests for undergraduate medical courses. The examination has been under increased public scrutiny in recent years following controversies, including allegations of irregularities and paper leaks. Authorities have not yet announced any findings regarding the circumstances that led to the student's death.
