Hyderabad Food Safety Crackdown: Chutneys, Ohris, Pista House Among 7 Restaurants Found With Violations – Full List

The Telangana Standards Authority of Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) has flagged seven restaurants in Hyderabad's core urban region after a special inspection drive uncovered multiple food safety violations, ranging from expired ingredients to pest infestation. The action comes as part of a broader enforcement push by the food safety regulator across the city.

List of Restaurants Found With Violations

How the Inspection Was Carried Out

Six teams from the Enforcement Wing of TG SAFE, comprising Food Safety Officers along with police personnel, conducted the special drive across the city's restaurants. Action Taken Against Violators

Following the findings, the food regulation authority initiated a series of enforcement actions. Officials lifted 11 samples on suspicion of adulteration, issued four improvement notices, and served three show cause notices to the restaurants concerned.

FSSAI Bans Sub-Standard Hing Powder From Everest, Laljee Godhoo

In a separate development, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) announced on Saturday that it has prohibited Everest Food Products Pvt Ltd and Laljee Godhoo and Company from selling their hing powder (asafoetida) products after they were found to be sub-standard.

In a social media post, FSSAI said prohibition orders had been issued against both companies after testing revealed their compounded asafoetida variants failed to meet regulatory standards. In Everest's case, the sale of its compounded asafoetida variants has been banned with immediate effect.

The regulator stated that samples of the compounded asafoetida were found to be misbranded and sub-standard by the Food Analyst of the primary food laboratory. The products were found in violation of the FSS (Food Products and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011, with the alcohol-soluble extract found to be 0 percent against the prescribed minimum standard of not less than 5 percent.
