Hyderabad: NEET Aspirant Dies by Suicide a Day Before Re-NEET

A 19-year-old NEET aspirant was found dead at her residence in Hyderabad's Miyapur area, police said on Sunday, June 21, a day before she was scheduled to appear for the NEET-UG re-examination. Student Found Dead in Hyderabad

According to police, the student had been staying with her sisters in an apartment in Miyapur. She was scheduled to take the NEET re-examination but was found dead at her residence on Saturday. Police recovered a note purportedly written by the deceased in which she reportedly stated that, "no one is responsible for my death."

Officials said they suspect the student may have been under significant stress related to the NEET re-examination. Investigators are examining whether pressure associated with the exam contributed to the incident. In a separate case, a NEET aspirant allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district, according to police. Authorities said they recovered a video clip from the student's mobile phone that was purportedly recorded shortly before his death.

According to police, in the purported clip, the aspirant is seen saying he is not under any stress related to exam. The deceased, identified as Jatin Kumar, was a resident of Vijay Nagar and had been preparing for the NEET-UG examination.

Family Found Student Dead at Home

According to family members, Jatin was studying in his room until late Thursday night. On Friday morning, when relatives went to wake him up, they found him dead and informed the police, officials said.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and examining the video recovered from his mobile phone.

The two incidents were reported as students across the country appeared for the NEET-UG re-examination on Sunday. The re-test was conducted after the earlier examination was cancelled amid allegations of a paper leak, prompting fresh concerns among students and parents over uncertainty surrounding one of India's most competitive entrance examinations. Authorities have not officially linked either death to the examination process, and investigations in both cases are ongoing.
