To mark the day, Shah chaired the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). A central highlight of the session was the official release of the "Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026-2029)." The newly unveiled roadmap explicitly targets modern law enforcement challenges, including darknet-enabled trafficking and the proliferation of synthetic drugs. Beyond enforcement, the framework details actionable steps to keep youth away from narcotics and expand the availability of treatment centers.
In tandem with these policy measures, authorities launched a special drug disposal fortnight campaign. Central and state law enforcement agencies are scheduled to destroy approximately 2,09,500 kilograms of seized illicit drugs, valued at an estimated Rs 6,000 crore, in strict compliance with legal protocols.
