A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight made an emergency landing in Goa on Tuesday, September 1, after one of its engines reportedly failed mid-air. IndiGo flight 6E 2102, carrying 220 people, returned to Manohar International Airport shortly after take-off following a technical issue involving one of its engines.

Flight Returns To Goa After Technical Issue

According to sources, the aircraft reported a technical issue involving one of its engines shortly after departure. Following the alert, ATC declared a full emergency and directed the aircraft to return to Manohar International Airport.

Flight Rescheduled For 3:30 Pm

The flight was originally scheduled to reach Delhi at around 11:45 am. Following the emergency landing, the service has been rescheduled for 3:30 pm, subject to aircraft clearance and operational requirements. Passengers are being accommodated while the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the reported engine issue are assessed.

Flight Turns Back After Flying Over Maharashtra Coast

Data from aviation tracker Flightradar24 showed the aircraft turning back towards Goa after flying over the coast of southern Maharashtra. The aircraft was reportedly at an altitude of around 14,000 feet when it began its return towards the airport. The safe landing allowed passengers to disembark without reported injuries.

Earlier IndiGo Engine Emergency In Chennai

The latest incident comes after another IndiGo flight experienced an engine-related emergency earlier this month. On August 12, an IndiGo flight operating from Kolkata to Chennai declared a full emergency shortly before landing at Chennai airport after the aircraft’s left engine failed.

The aircraft was carrying 224 people. The circumstances of Tuesday's incident, including the precise cause of the reported engine failure, are expected to be examined as part of the airline and aviation authorities' procedures. Further details are awaited.
