The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has officially categorised 33 residential and commercial properties across the city as "extremely dangerous" under the C-1 category for the 2026–27 period. In an urgent public notice signed by NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde, civic authorities have strongly warned occupants to vacate the premises immediately to prevent potential loss of life and property.
Strict Evacuation and Demolition Mandates
Issued through the corporation's Encroachment Department, the directive instructs owners and tenants to cease all activities on these sites without delay. The civic body noted that written warnings have already been served to the occupants of the dilapidated structures. Navi Mumbai Unsafe Buildings List 2026
"It is hereby notified to the owners/occupiers or others residing in the buildings listed in the attached list that written notices have been issued to you stating that the building you are residing in is dangerous for residential/commercial use," the NMMC stated. "The residential/commercial use in this building must be immediately stopped, and the construction of the dangerous building must be demolished without delay."
The administration further clarified that it assumes no liability for accidents resulting from delayed compliance. "If such action is not taken, you alone will be responsible for any damage caused by the collapse of the building/construction. Please note that the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation will not be responsible for this," the civic body added in a social media release. Continued occupation could also invite the formal disconnection of essential utility services such as water and electricity.
Division-Wise Overview of Unsafe Structures
The 33 structures identified in the safety audit are distributed across several municipal divisions within Navi Mumbai:
- Belapur Division: Includes locations such as Shri Ganesh Cooperative Housing Society (Nerul), Nitin Smruti (Agroli village), and White House Cooperative Housing Society (Nerul East).
- Nerul Division: Features multiple structures, including 17 buildings under the Panchsheel Apartment Owners Association (Sector-1A), Cosmopolitan Society-II (Nerul West), and Shivneri Cooperative Housing Society.
- Vashi Division: Comprises properties like Little Flower Cooperative Housing Society, Noor Cooperative Housing Society, C1 and C2 Type buildings in Sector-2, Sumangal Apartment, and Ashtavinayak Cooperative Housing Society.
- Turbhe and Sanpada Area: Encompasses several residential and market structures, including portions of the Kanda Batata Market, Amoli Cooperative Housing Society near Sanpada railway station, and various housing societies in Sector-26.
- Koparkhairane and Airoli Divisions: Lists properties such as Gagangiri, M. Chandralok, Silver Nest, City Shine, Raj Palace societies, and Sahajivan Apartment in Airoli.
- Digha Division: Includes Khandu Koli Chawl in Digha East.
Civic officials have urged residents living in these zones to relocate to safer alternatives immediately as enforcement measures and utility disconnections proceed.
