Jammu and Kashmir: One Gorkha Rifles Soldier Martyred in Ceasefire Violation by Pakistan in Naushera Sector

Srinagar, August 23: An Indian Army soldier was martyred in firing along the line of control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir as Pakistan violated the ceasefire on Friday. According to a tweet by ANI, the jawan, who lost his life in the firing, belonged to the Gorkha Rifles and has been identified as Rajib Thapa. Reports inform that the Indian Army is strongly retaliating to the ceasefire violations. This is the fourth incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan this week. Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Along LoC in Sunderbani Sector of Rajouri District.

On Thursday, Pakistan Army violated ceasefire in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier this week, one Indian Army soldier had lost his life in ceasefire violation in Krishna Ghati sector. India has repeatedly urged Pakistan to 'respect' the 2003 ceasefire arrangement between the two countries.

During the recently concluded Monsoon Session of Parliament, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in a reply to a question in Rajya Sabha had informed that till June 30, Pakistan had violated the ceasefire 1,248 times along the LoC. Singh informed that in the month of March alone, 267 ceasefire violations took place along the LoC.
